Heya me and a few friends are going interrailing and i wondered if anyone had any comments or experience about these places or this travel route and any advice, tips or things to see/look out for (as well as ways to get from each country to the next) would be much appreciated :D

Wer are travelling from our home town to london via train (we live in the UK) and then getting the Eurostar to paris.

then:

Paris-Barcelona
Barcelona-Rome
Rome-Zagreb
Zagreb-Plitvice
Plitvice-Amsterdam
Amsterdam-Hull (couple hours bus from home)

any advice on the best route from one country to another? :D

thanks xxx
Ben

Hi.

Some useful links for you....

Schedule planerhttps://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
Country topics with details about night trains, connections and so on: https://rail.cc/en/countries

Paris-Barcelona:
I recommend the route trough the Pyrenees: https://rail.cc/en/paris-pyrenees-barcelona-le-petit-tain-jaune/f4023
Faster but more expensive: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/france/fr

Barcelona-Rome: have a stop in between, for example in Nice...
https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice
In Italy use IC trains instead of the expensive Eurostar Italia trains.

Rome-Zagreb:
via Venice, then either by direct night train: https://rail.cc/en/venice-belgrade-night-train/f3307
or during the day using the fast, cheap and non-official way via Ljubljana:
https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664
https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-zagreb-train/f4001

Zagreb-Plitvice: https://rail.cc/en/zagreb-plitvice-plitvicka-jezera/f4296

Plitvice-Amsterdam: depends on which cities you want to add as a stop...
A fast and relaxing way is from Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/zagreb-amsterdam-train/f4727

Amsterdam-Hull: from Rotterdam (you can easily reach it by free Regional and IC trains from Amsterdam) by P&O ferry to Hull.
Or to Harwich: https://rail.cc/en/ferry-netherlands-england/f1659

I hope this will help you planing your trip.
And if you want to support our work and the forum, buy your official InterRail pass at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]

Thank you. Have sunny travel days, Peter :)
