Hi, I am going to buy an interrail ticket (global pass, 10 in 22). My country of residence is Holland and I want to start my trip from a night train Utrecht-Basel SSB (CNL). So I have two questions. 1. How can I make reservation? (both stations are not in Germany). 2. How can I pay for Dutch part of the way?

Thanks in advance

Hi!

You will need a regular ticket up to the border station, Emmerich. You will get a 50% discount for that part; I guess you will have to buy this ticket from a NS counter, the ticket machines probably wont sell those discounted InterRail tickets. From there you can use your InterRail pass. Since you have a flexi pass you can make use of the 1900-rule for night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
Regarding the reservation: I'd say get a reservation until Basel Bad Bf (last stop in Germany) - it's only some minutes away from Basel SBB and it wont be a problem to have a reservation to Bad Bf but get off only at SBB. :)
