are not R (regional), as stated in route planner,
they are ICS (InterCitySerbia), with mandatory reservation which costs 110RSD (around 1EUR)

Is there a need to reserve in advance or will paying for the reservation at the station on the day of travel suffice?

From the timetable change on December 12th, there are new ICS trains which require seat reservation now costing 150 RSD (~1,5 EUR).
Trains currently requiring seat reservation:
ICS Zlatibor 512/513 Prijepolje Teretna - Beograd - Prijepolje Teretna
ICS Bačka/Palić 541/542 Subotica - Beograd - Subotica
ICS Fruška Gora 546/547 Beograd - Novi Sad - Beograd
ICS Srem 548/549 Beograd - Novi Sad - Beograd
ICS Raška 580/581 Kraljevo - Beograd - Kraljevo
ICS Morava 590/591 Niš - Beograd - Niš (suspended at the moment but may run again soon)
With the train 580/581 you have connection to a local train to Zvečan, few kilometers north of Kosovska Mitrovica (Kosovo). Here is timetable:
ICS 581 Beograd 14:55 - Kraljevo 18:45
3833 Kraljevo 20:40 - Zvečan 23:41
3830 Zvečan 00:00 - Kraljevo 03:01
ICS 580 Kraljevo 03:55 - Beograd 07:38
Service to Kosovo is ran by Serbian Railways so Interrail is accepted.

Trains ICS 580/581 and 3830/3833 canceled until further notice so now it's not possible to reach Kosovo & Metohija by train with one change in Kraljevo.
