Hello,
I really need some help sorting out this route! I'm really confused with finding trains that are free, or night trains as i don't fully understand how much more it would cost. Ive found trains from luxembourg to berlin which would last the whole day which isnt a problem but then again i dont know if they will be free or if there will be a massive surcharge!! First time with interrail so im not gonna lie, i havent got a clue!!!
Cheers
:D

Hey. Are you wanting to do Paris to Vienna in one leg, or are they all separate trips (i.e. Paris to Luxembourg, Luxembourg to Berlin etc)?

Oh sorry, all in the same holiday but separate trips, so paris to luxembourg....then luxembourg to berlin etc!

No worries!
The best way of telling if you need to pay a supplement is by checking https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation . In response to your query:
Paris to Luxembourg - 3 EUR supplement if you wanted to take the TGV;
Luxembourg to Berlin - not sure which route you are taking (I don't know of any direct ones?);
Berlin to Prague - most likely to be a EuroCity service which I don't think incurs a surcharge;
Prague to Budapest - same service as the Berlin to Prague one so no surcharge; and
Budapest to Vienna - no surcharge if you travel on EuroCity or Railjet.
Hope that helps! If you need any more info on any of the routes, give me a shout!

Do you know roughly how long the routes will take? ie would we have to take a whole day out for travel or half a day?

Thats awesome thank you! Would you know of any overnight trains on any of those routes and how much extra they would cost for 2 people?
Cheers!!

There is a EuroNight service from Berlin that leaves at 19.25, arriving in Prague at 00.17/37 but I'm not sure whether that would count for your purposes!
There is a EuroNight service (477) that leaves Prague at 00.37, arriving in Budapest at 08.32 the next morning.
Another EuroNight service between Budapest and Vienna that departs at 19.05 or 21.05, arriving at 22.01 or 23.54 - but once again, don't think this is what you're after exactly!
