There are 5 different types of domestic train services in Portugal:
Alfa Pendular (compulsory seat reservation)
Intercidades (compulsory seat reservation)
InterRegional
Regional
Urban

So it seems that I should be able to travel with all of them completely free, except AlfaPendular(seat reservation 10EUR?) and Intercidades(seat reservation 4EUR?) But I have still doubts about the Urban trains. Can I also travel by them for free, when using Interrail? Or i need to buy a ticket? Maybe anybody here has recent experience travelling in Portugal with Interrail and can specify a bit (also with these seat reservation prizes).

Thanks a lot! Cheers

Hi!

Seat reservation is 10€ for AP and 4€ for IC services. Usually it is able to get these reservations at short notice just before departure of the train.

With InterRail you can use all other services operated by CP for free. Attention in Lisboa: The Fertagus services between Roma-Areeiro and Setubal arent included. So if you wanna cross Tejo either use the catamaran service from Terreiro do Paco to Barreiro or get a ticket for a Fertagus service.
Also, a reservation is necessary for the international Lusitania and Sud Express services.
