Hi, just a quick question..
Is it possible to get from Milan to Vienna in a day (particularly a Monday!)?
I've looked at various timetable sites and it seems to be feasible, but the sites all give conflicting times/don't seem to agree with each other..
I read somewhere that timetables changed mid-June, so maybe this is why. I'm thinking of 14th June here..
Any help would be much appreciated, and if you know about supplements, even better!
Thanks

Hi!
You are right, there is a minor timetable change (as every year mid-june) on June 13th.
For Milano - Vienna during the day you have two options:
Via Villach:
Milano Centrale 0635 - 0858 Venezia Mestre :arr: EurostarCity/Frecciabiaca, 10€ supplement
Venezia Mestre 0940 - 1250 Villach Hbf :arr: InterCity Bus, ~7€ supplement
Villach Hbf 1316 - 1728 Wien Meidling
Milano Centrale 0905 - 1128 Venezia Mestre :arr: EurostarCity/Frecciabiaca, 10€ supplement
Venezia Mestre 1140 - 1450 Villach Hbf :arr: InterCity Bus, ~7€ supplement
Villach Hbf 1514 - 1928 Wien Meidling
Milano Centrale 1235 - 1458 Venezia Mestre :arr: EurostarCity/Frecciabiaca, 10€ supplement
Venezia Mestre 1540 - 1850 Villach Hbf :arr: InterCity Bus, ~7€ supplement
Villach Hbf 1916 - 2328 Wien Meidling
Via Innsbruck (free of supplements):
Milano Centrale 0710 - 1232 Innsbruck Hbf
Innsbruck Hbf 1354 - 1840 Wien West

Hi.
You are right. Not all connections are shown right now for the summer becuase of the change of the schedules.
A day train connection for you could be this one:
Milano Lambrate Dep: 0710 | EC train - supplement EUR 5
Innsbruck Hbf Arr: 1232
Innsbruck Hbf Dep: 1354 | OEC - free of supplements
Wien Westbahnhof Arr: 1840

Flo was the faster one ... :)
And about the supplement for the EC Milano-Insbruck. I will check it again, but I think you are right. It will be without a supplement. :)

Alright guys, thank you very much for clearing this up!
Think we'll go for the innsbruck option

OK - if you want to, you could have a little walk around Innsbruck while waiting for your connecting train. There are lockers available at the station. If you want to do so maybe think about taking the next train to Vienna two hours later to be more relaxed while having a look around the city. It's not that big but certainly nice for a short break along the way. :)

One last point..
Flow, you say the innsbruck one leaves centrale, whereas Peter says Lambrate. I've checked online and it seems to be Lambrate, could one of you just confirm this confusion please?
Thanks so much

Oh, my bad.
It leaves 0659 at Porta Garibaldi and 0710 at Lambrate. No stop at Centrale. :)

Hi.
Please in English language, otherwise not everybody can understand it. Thanks. :)
Do it like described here. If you don't travel with a rail pass, then simply skip GLOBAL PASS. You can only book the direct night train online. Other connections only at a train station in Italy then.
Peter :)
