Hi

This is a route I am planning - any thoughts on if it works etc would be great. My main question is - if a train connects somewhere and you have to get off and change to another train, will your interail pass get stamped twice? This would be a bit of a problem for me as I just want to get a 5 uses in 10 days pass?

Route will prob be Belgium - Amsterdam - Berlin - (possibly on to Munich if better for train to Vienna) - Vienna - Budapest

I want to stay in Bruges in Belgium and wonder if the train we get will be via Brussels and if then will we have to count one go on our pass as the Bruges - Brussels part of the journey or whether the journey from Bruges via Brussels to Amsterdam would be just seen as one go on our pass? (obviously i know i could pay separately for this train but trying to budget for the trip)

Does this make sense? Think it might be a similar thing if we get a train from Berlin to Vienna although am open to spending a night in Munich and seeing the city (unless anyone has any better suggestions?)

Thanks

Hi.

ONE TRAVEL DAY is always from 00:01h in the morning until 23:59h at night.
You can use as much trains as you want on such a travel day, cross borders, do whatever you want.
There is as well a special and nice rule for night trains which allows you to use a direct night train starting after 19:00h in the evening - and traveling the full next day:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Concerning your trip, here some helpful links to connections.
Of course there are much more trains available, just use the schedule planerhttps://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

And always check the country topics where you will find additional information: https://rail.cc/en/countries

1
Brugge-Brussels: in the morning.
Brugge Dep: 0831 | by free IC train - always use in Benelux the free IC trains and avoid the THALYS train which has a high supplement. Frequent trains on this route, at least every hour.
Bruxelles Midi/Brussel Zuid Arr: 0928

Brussels-Amsterdam: continue in the evening, so you will have in total ONE travel day.
https://rail.cc/en/brussels-bruxelles-amsterdam-train/f3994

2
Amsterdam-Berlin:
https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346
Even using the overnight train will count as only one of your travel days, as the night train leaves at 1901 - so after 1900. You can make use oft the rule for night trains mentioned above.

3
Berlin-Vienna:
Either use the direct night train (again using the rule mentioned above): https://rail.cc/en/berlin-vienna-night-train/f3738
Or by day train. Using a direct day train running via Prague, you will have to pay a supplement for the part Prague-Vienna of EUR 7.
It is also possible to tavel by free ICE train from Berlin to Munich. Have a stop there and then to continue by direct and free Railjet or ICE to Vienna.
Just use the schedule planer mentioned above.

4
Vienna-Budapest:
Only use the DIRECT day trains to Budapest.
If you use a train with a stop in Hungary, you will have to pay a supplement for their national IC trains.
https://rail.cc/en/vienna-budapest-train-railje/f1999

Now you see: ONE travel-day left.
I recommend you either a stop in Munich or Prague on your way to Vienna.
Other possibility is to add KRAKOW (Poland - a lot of students and good night life). Either some when in between or at the end.
Budapest-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-krakow-night-train/f3304
Possible as well by day trains.
