Hi all,
I am from India and I recently bought an Eurail Pass covering 5 days of travel within Benelux, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. I will be touring these countries with a friend from the UK who has bought an InterRail global pass valid for 5 days out of 10. I have the following queries -
1. As I will be leaving India for the UK on 28 May 2010, I cannot have reservation receipts from online bookings mailed to my home in India, before I leave. Will it therefore be possible for my friend to make reservations for both of us in the UK?
2. Is it possible to reserve adjacent seats/berths on trains while booking reservations/supplements, even though we will be traveling on different passes?
3. If so where should we make these bookings? Online, or at the station?
4. When do I have to pay a supplement fee, and when do I have to make a reservation?
I'll be eternally grateful if you could clear my doubts ASAP.
Thanks a ton!

Also, I would like to travel from Vienna to Venice by the overnight train you have mentioned here - https://rail.cc/en/vienna-venice-night-train/f3671 , on 8 June, by 2nd class seater. How do we go about reserving this train?
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
Just read this topic which will answer all your questions:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
1) In the UK it is only possible to make reservations via some travel agencies with high fees. Do it at a station when arriving in France.
2) You can travel together, sit or sleep in the same compartments. And you can buy the reservations as well together. Simply tell the railway staff that you need one for InterRail, one for Eurail.
3) See the link above.
4) I am not specialist for Eurail.
Information for InterRail travelers is here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
And always check the country topics for details about night trains.
5) Vienna-Venice: it should be no problem to buy this reservation already somewhere at the beginning of your tour, in France or the Netherlands.
Have a sunny trip, Peter :)

Thanks for the prompt reply! It was really helpful. Just one more question.
If I arrive in Paris on the 1st and make my reservations there, for various train journeys between 1st and 10th June, will I be cutting it too fine? Will that be peak season?
Thanks once again!

Depends on the trains you have chosen to take. If there ís for instance only one daily train on your route it may be full already if you book one day in advance...if you book several days ahead you usually should be fine, especially if you travel alone.
