Hey folks,
Me and my friends plan to go on 15 days of interrail.
We have a small budget and therefore plan to sleep on regular seets in the train.
But i have some questions.
Is there any additional expenses and fees ect. that we should look out for? (Night trains, high speed ect)
I've heard that you have to reservate/book seets in the trains. How much does it cost in addition and how long before do I have to do it? Do we need to plan much on before hand or is it possibly to just travel and take things as they come - aka. freedom?
How often does the train goes in night hours?
We plan something like (still very loose planning)
Denmark - Holland - Spain - France - Italy - Germany - Norway (where the travel ends)
Please help me ! :O

Hi.
The most night trains within Europe are listed here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
Not all have normal, free seats. But in most cases the bed in a night train is cheaper than in a hostel.
In some countries (for example Germany, Italy, ...) you can find as well normal trains (only seats) running during the night. But I don't recommend them to sleep in (at least not in Italy) as for theft.
Concerning booking/supplements/reservations:
- some trains you can book online in advance: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
- others you have to book at a station.
I do it always this way: when I arrive in a city, I book (only if a reservation/supplement is needed) the next night train to leave. If there aren't free beds anymore inside, I have at least enough time to find an alternative route.
