Hello!
Right was wondering, is it safe to sleep outside in an open field in smaller villages. Leaving around mid-July and i've not been abroad since I was a wee-kid so bare that in mind when I ask, is it warm enough to leep outside without a tent?
Free accommodation plus saves me carrying a tent all the while. My pans are changing a lot but an average idea of where i'm gonna try and get to is; Amsterdam - Prague - Budapest - Vienna - Split - Rome- Venice - Milan - Monaco/Nice - Barcelona.
So where's the weather at? :)

Hi Mark.
In mid July it should be fine in every place you will visit.
I often sleep as well somewhere outdoor - just using a Regional train leaving a big city - for about one hour - and then leave the train, walk some meters and then lay down to sleep. Never had problems ... but sometimes you meet some crazy dogs and so on.
Often it can be as well helpful to just ask some locals you see for a place to sleep... they often know meadows ... I only had good experiences - but maybe I am only a lucky person?! ;)
But avoid sleeping on some beaches close to cities - it might be really dangerous in Southern Europe. As for theft and I am sure you will meet as well the police then, waking you up. As it is forbidden.

Thanks, Peter!
Sounds good. I think i've got enough funds just in case but sleeping outside on a nice warm evening does sounds mighty good :D
Soumething else I should've asked, is it warm enough without a sleeping bag? Will I need a super thermal one?

Hi Mark.
I always have a very thin, small light weight sleeping back with me. Also using it if sometimes hostels are a bit dirty.
It is less than 500g and like two big bottle of Coke. Price was less than EUR 50.
That's what I definitely can recommend. As you can use it as well to sit down on a meadow while cooking or chilling. And sometimes it gets cold in night trains.
Peter :)
