Hi.
A nice route. For the connection at the beginning via TGV to St-Malo:
if you know your date of departure (and I am sure you will know), buy the supplement for the TGV some days in advance - no problem at a Swiss railway station. Should be EUR 3. Better to spent EUR 3 than to stay the whole night at a train station. :)
On you way back from Aix-en-Provence to Basel do it this way (if you like long and supplement free train travel):
Aix-en-Provence Dep: 0751 | free Regional Express train
Marseille-St-Charles Arr: 0822
Marseille-St-Charles Dep: 0903 | free Regional Express train
Lyon Part Dieu Arr: 1234
Lyon Part Dieu Dep: 1322 | free Regional Express train
Dijon Ville Arr: 1524
Dijon Ville Dep: 1615 | free Regional Express train
Belfort Arr: 1841
Belfort Dep: 1853 | free Regional Express train
Mulhouse Ville Arr: 1929
Mulhouse Ville Dep: 1947 | free Regional Express train
Basel SNCF Arr: 2009
In Latour de Carol it is nice to stay. But me personally never found a place to sleep. If I stayed there overnight, I always slept close to the rail tracks in the nowhere. And it is dam cold there in the night, even in summer. No problem to have there 5 C in the night.
I don't know if it is still possible, but some years ago I even slept in the Petit Train Jaune as it was open during the night - and got up at 0500h in the morning to leave it. ;)
Maybe think about Carcassone in the corner and ad there one more night?!?

Only campsite I know there is in Ur, some (~4) kilometres away. It is the first stop of the Petit Train Jaune. In Puigcerda over in Spain there is a hostel but they wanted to charge us (2 persons) 100€ for one night last summer when we came there... In Llivia there's a hostel as well but it's ~11km away from Latour - if you're lucky you can hitchhike there; but make sure your reservation is confirmed since they refused us to let in last summer (although we made an email reservation) so we had to sleep in front of the church (which was pretty nice though). :)
