Hey i am going interailing with my brother and i was just wondering about the different age restrictions in various countries. For stuff like getting into bars/clubs and buying cigs&alcohol etc yknow? And how laid back are they about id??cause its pretty strict in the uk. I'm 18 so should be ok, but he's 16. We've been to france and spain before and thats been fine in bars. We're planning to go travelling around belgium, france, holland, germany, hungary, austria and chzech republic.
But yes any info would be great :) x

Hi.

As long as you are 18 and responsible for your brother, you should not have any problems.
I can only tell you about Germany:
Starting from the age of 16: you can drink beer and wine.
Starting from the age of 18: you can smoke cigarettes and drink hard alcohol

Peter :)

Hi

I've been to amsterdam and i think in holland it's 16 to drink light acoholic drinks and 18 for stronger ones... For instance they gave as a hard time when we wanted to get into a disco since not all of us were 18. You do need to be 18 to enter cofeeshops (and smoke weed) and they are very strict about it...

I'm actually from Portugal and here it's 16 to drink and 18 to smoke but no one really gives a damn...
