Switzerland-Austria-Hungary-Slovakia-Czech Rep.-Germany-Belgium-UK

My gf and myself are planning a trip around Europe starting the 1st June and are getting the 15 day continuous inter-rail pass. We have been planning for 2 months and have revised the trip down to this. Some say it is not long enough for the amount of places we wish to visit but we have worked out a detailed itinerary and believe that it is possible with the time we have.

June 1st
Switzerland

Flight from Dublin to Geneva on the 1st June
Arrive - 15:05pm Swiss time

We plan to visit the Jet D'eau waterfall, the Flower Clock and Look around Old Town

After we have seen these sights which are quite close together in Geneva we plan to get a train to La Gruyerés to find a place to stay for the night and get some food.

June 2nd

Arrive at local cheese factory at 9am
Go to H.R. Giger Museum + bar (including the castle)
All in same area*

Travel to local Chocolate factory around 2pm

Visit La Gruyerés le bains for relaxing spa evening.

Stay another night in Gruyerés

June 3rd

Travel from Gruyerés to Brig - arrive around 11am
Wait for Glacier Express which arrives at 11:40
Arrive at Chur 15:14

Depart Chur 16:09
Arrive Zurich 17:23

Look around Zurich until train at 20:40 to Villach, Austria - arrive 06:08
10 hour train so that nights rest will be on train :P

June 4th
Austria

Look around Villach - local castles and scenery

depart Villach 11:16 - arrive Vienna 15:28

We have researched Vienna and not found much to do or see apart from the usual buildings and scenery - if anyone has any suggestions as what there is to do in Vienna we would be grateful and our plan may change but right now we only plan to stay for a few hours and then move on.

Depart Vienna 18:05 - arrive Budapest 20:49
Look for place to stay

June 5th
Hungary

Sights to see:

The Chain Bridge
Houses of Parliament
Matthias Church
Fishermans Bastion
The Millenary Monument
St. Stephens Basilica

Depart 19:58 - arrive Bratislava 22:34
Look for place to stay

June 6th
Slovakia

Explore the Danube River and local castle
Relax around the city

Depart Bratislava 16:08 - Arrive Prague 20:21
Find somewhere to stay and have a few drinks

Note: From this point on we have not yet worked out our train times as route may vary and the plan isn't as detailed as before but we decided to post it up here for some comments

June 7th
Czech Republic
We have wanted to go to Prague for a while as we have seen a site which has various activities available to do but have not decided which yet.

June 8th
Germany

Arrive in Berlin

Arrive in Munich
Find a place to stay for 2 nights

June 9th

June 11th

This allows us to have 3 days on hand in case the plan changes while we are away which it most likely will.

Any ideas or comments will be appreciated thanks.

Hi.

It is really a lot you planed. Especially the first week, you just stay for some hours at a place and then continue.
My personal opinion: the first week you can do this, you can see a lot, get some impressions for future travels.
But after one week of travel you need a place to stay for 2 or 3 nights. Otherwise you only rush trough places and it isn't fun any more. Only running, running running. ;)
For example Budapest: at least 2 nights.
Better to skip then Bratislava.

But on the other hand: you can plan a lot - and then decide spontaneously during your tour if you want to skip something or not... better to have some more places planed than to end up and don't know places where to go next.

Peter :)
