Hi,

I have spontaneously decided to go 'interrailing' this summer. I am going to get a 30 day pass and travel alone. I am a bit daunted by this but I have been assured I will be ok?

I have a list as long as my arm with all the places I want to visit but not sure of what route I should take. I really want to see some amazing places and I am interested in beaches, culture, etc etc. Some places on my list are.....

Brussels
Berlin
Munich
Stuttgart
Naples
Vienna
Monaco
Cannes

And many many more! Is there a popular route that people take? I really want to meet loads of people especially as I am travelling alone so a popular route would be perfect!

Hi Jess.

I suppose you will start from the UK?

Just an example to discuss for a route of 30 days, visiting popular places:

UK-Brussels:
Eurostar (expensive): https://rail.cc/en/london-brussels-bruxelles-eurostar-train/f3988
Ferry to the Netherlands: https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/

Brussels-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/brussels-bruxelles-amsterdam-train/f3994

Amsterdam-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346

Berlin-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361

Prague-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027

Krakow-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-budapest-night-train/f3305

Budapest-Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-belgrade-night-train/f3370

Belgrade-Zagreb: by day trains.
Or here you could also go on via Zagreb, Ljubljana to Venice and continue your tour in Italy.
https://rail.cc/en/belgrade-zagreb-venice-night-train/f3306

1) Zagreb-Ljubljana
Ljubljana-Munich
Munich-Stuttgart
Stuttgart-Strasbourg-Nice
Nice-Cannes-Monaco
Nice-Paris
Paris-UK

2) Zagreb-Ljubljana-Venice
Venice-Milano-Monaco-Cannes-Nice
Nice via Switzerland to Munich
Munich-Stuttgart-Paris

Just have a look at the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And the country topics: https://rail.cc/en/countries

To get a better overview.

Peter :)

Thank you for your reply, I am started to get really excited now about planning my route!!

I am worried about how much I can get into 30 days? What do you think is the cheapest way to get out of the UK? I dont mind where I start just the cheapest way possible!

Hi!

- To get out of the UK with InterRail, have a look at these topics here at the forum:
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-london-paris-england-france/f1222
https://rail.cc/en/london-paris-eurostar-train/f1805
https://rail.cc/en/london-brussels-bruxelles-eurostar-train/f3988
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-uk-france-ireland/f1401
https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/

- Or have a look for cheap flights with Ryanair, Easyjet etc... Although I dont recommend this from an ecological point of view. For me, the Dover - Calais ferry is the best way to get to the continent. It's quite cheap and still a little bit of an adventure.

- Within 30 days you can really see a lot of Europe - especially in the first ~two weeks you are motivated and full of energy. But then think of some days of relaxation somewhere at a beach or so to have enough energy for the rest of your trip. :)
As an example I can give you my route from 2008 (22days ticket): Wien - Praha - Berlin - Paris - San Sebastian - Porto - Lisboa - Barcelona - Troon/Glasgow - London
