It isn't.

The EU is working with an operator to run a day train but start date is not clear and won't be this summer.

Hi.
Currently you have to take the bus - direct buses available from about 20 EUR - depends on your travel date. Overnight travel is possible, but of course less comfortable than the former overnight train.

If you want to travel by train, you have this connection (may be different timings on some dates or weekends):

Madrid Atocha Cercanías dep: 08:30 (IC 190)
Badajoz arr: 13:24

Badajoz dep: 14:09 (R 5500)
Entroncamento arr: 15:52

Entroncamento: 15:59 (IC 512)
Lisboa Oriente: 16:52
Lisboa Santa Apolonia: 17:00

Buy tickets for Spain on renfe.com and for Lisbon on cp.pt
