HI,
I'm planning an interrail trip for the summer. Getting the 30 day Global Pass and at the moment planning on doing:
London > Paris > Milan > Rome > Naples > Athens > Croatia > Munich > Amsterdam
The bit I'm struggling to get my head around is the Athens > Croatia; I don't believe there are any simple routes from Athens to say Split/Dubrovnik so I think there are a few options:
1) Local train from Athens to Patras, ferry back over to Italy, trains going north and then get a ferry from Italy to Croatia (expensive??)
2) Ferry from Patras to Venice then trains from Venice to Croatia (Have looked at ferry connections from Patras to Venice and I think it will take a couple of days, do people usually pay the Deck price and sleep outside?? Should I stop off at Corfu for a couple of days??)
All suggestions welcomed
Thanks

Patras > Athens > ThessalonĂki >(Peter or Flow will find a way to)> Croatia , i can guess something like ThessalonĂki > Belgrade (or Nis) > Croatia

Corfu is a wonderful island but also a big one, anyway i suggest you to pay a visit on your way from Italy to Greece.

Hi.
Croatia is a bit away of the main route from Athens via Munich to Amsterdam.
A possibility is the one like baobab already mentioned: via Thessaloniki, Belgrade...
Details:
Thessaloniki - Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/thessaloniki-skopje-belgrade-night-train/f1636
Belgrade - Bar (Monenegro): https://rail.cc/en/belgrade-bar-train/f3445
Belgrade - Croatia: use a day train to Zagreb and continue to Split or Rijeka: https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664
- night train: https://rail.cc/en/venice-belgrade-night-train/f3307
