Hey guys,
Does the interrail ticket include HSTs or do we have to pay extra on top of our ticket to get onto a HST?

Hi!
That depends on the type of HST. In Germany for instance, most ICE (except those to France) are free, in Italy, Spain, France you need a reservation to get on board of a HST. To check if you need a supplement/reservation check the detailed list here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
If you have questions about a particular connection/train, feel free to ask here. :)

Thanks Flo:)
Emm ya im just wondering about three of my connections. Two are Intercity IC trains, the IC 653 from Voghera to Genoa and the IC 500 from Genoa to Alessandria. The link you sent me said I don't have to book a reservation but the trains do have a 3 euro supplement. Does this mean that I just pay the extra 3 euro as I get on the train?
I also have one bus transfer from Potenza to Metaponto. Route Planner told me to take this so does that mean its covered by my interrail ticket?
Also, the rest of my trains are either sneltreins or stoptreins. Can i just walk onto these or do I need to book ahead?
On a slightly different note I can't make my mind up whether to go to Verona/Lake Garda for 2 days or Genoa for 2 days, would you recommend either??
Thanks very much, I'm ridiculously ignorant of all this and I'm heading to Italy in a month!!!
