Hi, I am just about to order my Interrail ticket - I am travelling from Vienna to Istanbul with 8 cities in between - I start in Vienna on 4th May and end in Istanbul on 16th May. However, I emailed xxxxx (no email please - otherwise they will be spamed) on 13/04/10 and have yet to hear from them on a few points and reservations. It only occurred to me that you might be able to help. I would be really grateful if you could let me know the following -

1. I would be grateful if you could advise what ticket is best suited to my travels (I am a UK citizen) and I have not yet bought my Interrail ticket?
2. Have I left it too late - I fly out on Tuesday 4th May?
3. I am travelling on my own - can I request to share with females only when booking overnight trains?
4. I asked them to quote reservations and I would then book them via their quote and havent heard back obviously - who else can book my reservations, or should I book for myself online via each country?

Look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thanks.

Hi.

Here your answers:

1) It depends if you will stop in the cities, use night trains (there is a nice rule: ), how long you stay in a city...
for this route use either the: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
- GLOBAL Pass 5 days within 10 days
- GLOBAL Pass 10 days within 22 days

2) Within the UK you have a 24hour delivery on business days. Calculate 48hours to be save. So you are still in time.

3) Most trains have women only compartments. I am not sure about the Eastern European trains. Never heard something about that on the route Belgrade-Istanbul.

4) You can't book online for these route. You have to do it at a station. Do it in Vienna on your arrival. They should be able to make all reservations down to Istanbul.

Please order your rail pass directly via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - for you the fare is the same - and we get a little commission for our answers and work.
Thank you. Peter :)

Thanks ever so much Peter. I think its the 10 Days in 22 Days pass as I am travelling at different times etc and to be on the safe side in case I miss any train etc. Also, I will book my train from Sofia to Istanbul when I get to Vienna. When I book the train (Sofia to Istanbul), I take it I only need to pay the reservation charge as my Interrail ticket will be used for the fare?

Thanks.

Exactly ... you will only have to pay the reservation fare which depends on the type of seat/bed you want. Maybe one Euro more or less, also depends on the exchange rates.
