Hi!

My friend and I are hoping to do an interrail in July. We are from Portugal and we are looking and we want to go by plane to Paris and then we are looking forward to do the following route: Paris - Brussels - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Vienna - Venice - Florence - Rome. then we are planning to go to Carcassone where we can catch our returning plane.

Doubts:
1. is a 10 days within 22 days pass enough?
2. what trains should we catch?
3. how to reserve them?

thank you a lot!

Hi!

The 10 in 22 suits your route just perfectly. However, since you are planning to visit quite a lot of cities, make sure that you start your InterRail pass only when you leave Paris for Bruxelles and end it on the day when you arrive in Carcassonne - so you will make the most use out of it; your total journey then will last more then 22 days, depending on how long you are going to stay in Paris respectively Carcassonne. :)

If you browse at the country topics of our forum you will find lots of information regarding connections (ie for direct night trains) between the places you mentioned. To get further details of train schedules have a look here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route - attention, the database might not be updated yet for the summer timetable; search for dates before June 13th instead. Times wont change a lot afterwards so you can plan with these times. ;)

Some examples for topics you will find if you browse the country boards:

As you are travelling on a 10in22 Flexi Pass, you can make use of the 1900-rule for night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

How to reserve trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

And some basic information for startes: https://rail.cc/en/first-interrail-tour/f3303

I think this should help you to start planning your trip. If you have any other questions regarding schedules, supplements, accommodation etc, dont hesitate to ask here. And if you like the work we're doing here at the website and forum, please support it by buying your official InterRail ticket at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you. :)
