Me and three of my friends are planning on interrailing in September with a planned route from Amsterdam to Budapest. A rough route was amsterdam-berlin-prague-krakow-bratislava-budapest with a 5 travel days in 10 days flying to amsterdam on the 2nd and leaving budapest on the 15th. Just looking for some general advice;

What bag size would be suitable? Just take hand luggage or put a couple of bigger ones in the hold? Not camping but hostelling

How long should we spend in each city? 2 nights/one and a half days in each or should we cut out a place to spend a bit longer in the other cities?

Finally, should we book everything in advance (hostels, trains etc while in the UK ) or stay flexible for route and book hostels like the city before?

Thanks for any help,

Andy

Hi.
For a 5 in 10 InterRail trip a good choice.
There is a nice rule for night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Bag size... maximum 50-55 litres.
Book in advance if possible, as you don't need a lot of flexibility for such a short trip.

I recommend 2 or 3 nights per city... in your case have 2 nights... should be fine. :)

Details about the connections:

Amsterdam-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346
Berlin-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361
