Myself and 3 friends have been travelling for 2 months through europe, and will be arriving in istanbul on the 4th of May hopefully. We were planning to fly home from Istanbul, however we may not be able to afford a flight, so we were thinking of getting trains all the way to amsterdam.

[session timed out - please always copy and paste the schedules her. thenak you]
These are the routes i have found, and im wondering what you think of the plans and whether or not it is do-able
Should we book all the trains in advance? Will we have to change trains at every country border, despite them being overnight trains? Is it really worth the risk of getting stranded in eastern europe with nowhere to stay?
Help and advice will be much appreciated :)

Hi.
It is an interessting route from Istanbul to Western Europe and easy to do:
Istanbul-Belgrade by direct night train:
https://rail.cc/en/istanbul-sofia-belgrade-night-train/f1641
Then either:
1) Belgrade-Zurich: https://rail.cc/en/belgrade-zurich-night-train/f1897
Zurich-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/zurich-basel-amsterdam-night-train/f3750
or:
2) Belgrade-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/belgrade-vienna-night-train/f1905
Or Belgrade-Budapest (depends which city you prefer to visit for a stop)
Budapest-Vienna-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-vienna-munich-train-railje/f4070
Munich-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
Most connections you can't reserve in advance - at least not in Istanbul. Do it on your way...
