I am going with 3 friends wit a 22 day pass (which will start after couple of days in Paris) and have a couple of queries!
(1) Is this too much?
(2) A good route?
Paris
Bruges
Berlin
Krakow
Prague
Vienna
Salzburg???
Bratislava
Budapest (Lake Balaton)
Zagreb
Llujb....
Dubrovnik/Split
Ferry to Bari
Fly out of Rome
But feel that this will be getting expensive with ferry at the end! Is there a better way to get from Zagreb to Austria/Italy way?

Hi.
The route is okay and you can do it. If you get in a hurry, just skip some of the cities.
Better to have some more in your plans and then skip some spontaneously.
Details to the connections are listed in the country topics:

If you want to travel back from Croatia (Zagreb) to Italy, it is easy and cheap.
First by bus from Dubrovnik to Split, then by train to Zagreb.
Bus information: https://rail.cc/en/croatia-bus-connections/f2875
Train Split-Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129
Go on and have a stop in Ljubljana on your way to Italy.
Ljubljana-Italy: https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-venice-train/f3663
Or directly from Ljubljana (or if you skip Ljubljana, directly from Zagreb - see country topics to Switzerland and Austria).
Peter :)

Thanks! Really helpful!
Would be any easier/of any benefit to go from Berlin perhaps to Munich and work round Italy and then to Croatia...would this be a better route? Has anyone done this?

Hi!
In my opinion, your initial list of cities is a little bit long for 22 days - you will get in a hurry and might have to miss some sights in each place. But like Peter said, you can skip some places while your are travelling. What would make sense is to maybe discuss in your group if there are any places where you definitely want to go. If you then still have time during your trip to visit other places from the list, do so! :)
Your route is really nice because you will have very good train connections where you wont have to get extra reservations (apart from night trains). So you are really flexible - you dont like it in Bratislava? Jump on a train and go to Vienna instead. You dont want to stay overnight in Salzburg? Go there as a day trip from Vienna, only 2h35... etc... :)

To answer this: Like I've said, if no one of your group is really interested in going through Praha, Krakow etc, skip this part, go straight down to Munich, have a short visit to Salzburg maybe and then continue down to Italy or Slovenia/Croatia.

Or go during the day, the ride over the Austrian Alps to Carinthia is really nice. In Carinthia you also have lots of sunny lakes where you could stop for a day or two of relaxing.
