The only thing that really worries me is losing my ID/passport, especially since I want to travel alone and start my journey in Russia before entering Europe. In Europe, would losing my documents mean the end of my trip? By chance, do you know about what I should do if the same should happen in Russia?

Also, is it helpful at all to take a printed digital scan of my documents with me?

thanks :)

Take a photocopy with you. If you loose your passport you need to go to your embassy to get an emergency replacement

I always have a copy with me like SiDUDe.
And then a scanned file uploaded to my email account... so even if everything got stolen, the scanned online document left. :)

Thank you for your answers :) . However I also wanted to know this: if I lose my ID in Europe, can I keep travelling with my temporary replacement, or does the temporary ID only allow me to come back home?

thanks :)

As much as I know you can continue traveling.
Important then to have the copy of your old stolen passport/IDcard with you, as the number of the passport/IDcard is printed on your ticket.

For a UK citizen: Depending on the Embassy/Consulate they can issue a document to allow you to travel home, an emergency one year passport or a full passport. You will still need some form of identification, a police report and pay a fee. Different embassies/consulates offer different services. You should check with your countries Foreign Office to see what services they provide.
