Hi there
I am travelling with my boyfriend in mid August, and I just wanted to confirm and check that the following plan of attack (!) will be okay for our travels under the 10-day pass. I will be on an Interrail pass and he will be on Eurail. Could you just look this over and let me know if we both have a ticket that will suit this travel plan?
Flying London -- Rome and spending 3 nights there before commencing the start of our rail pass on Aug 5.
Aug 5 - Rome - Florence (possibly to Pisa)
Aug 7 - Nighttrain from Florence - Munich
Aug 8 - Munich - Fussen DAYTRIP
Aug 11 - Munich - Prague
Aug 12 - Prague - Dresden DAYTRIP
Aug 13 - Nighttrain from Prague - Amsterdam
End pass in Amsterdam.
If you could help us out with this final stage before we book our tickets that would be really great. I'm not sure which trains might need supplements either, would I just look this up on the timetable in accordance with the times that we want to travel? And also, is it too early to get our passes now/book the nighttrains if we aren't traveling until August? (He's in New Zealand and I'm in UK currently). Thanks again!

Hi.
With a 10 days in 22 days InterRail Global Pass you will be fine traveling this route.
If you want, you can even add one or two more travel days, for example having a stop in Berlin.
Using the 1900h rule for night trains, you save travel days: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
If you skip for example the daytrip to Füssen or do it by normal train tickets (there is the BAYERN TICKET of Deutsch Bahn - for EUR 28, up to 5 persons can use as much Regional trains inside Bavaria for one day), it should be also possible with the 5 days in 10 ....... just calculate it right.
Rome-Florence: day trains, pay attention to supplements:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it
Florence-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/rome-florence-munich-night-train/f3741
Munich-Prague: day connection - free of supplements (maybe have a stop in Nürnberg, nice castle!)
Prague-Dresden: free by day trains
Prague-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/prague-amsterdam-night-train/f3748
Or first Prague-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/prague-berlin-train/f3360
Then Berlin-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
The supplements are the same for you both.
And wait until July. Order your passes 2 or 3 weeks in advance, enough time. :)
If you want to support our forum and all the work, order your passes via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you. :)

Hi.
Just one thing which came in my mind: if you have a stop in Berlin, you can easily visit the German Reichstag and the Brandenburger Tor, the two main tourist spots in Berlin.
They are just some steps away from the main station Berlin Hbf (10 minutes of walk maximum). It's worth a short stop of 2 hours if you don't want to stay overnight.
And thanks for supporting! Peter :)

Oops, sorry Peter. I'm wondering if the above plan that I initially listed will be okay under the 5-day in 10-day travel pass? Unfortunately we're traveling on quite a tight budget and are unable to stretch it to the 22-day one. If you could let me know whether I need to make any amendments to the original plan? Thnx!

Hi!
Had a quick look at your initial route:
Aug 5 - Rome - Florence (possibly to Pisa) :arr: 1st travel day
Aug 7 - Nighttrain from Florence - Munich :arr: 2nd travel day with use of 1900-rule
Aug 8 - Munich - Fussen DAYTRIP :arr: I assume you arrive on that day from Firenze? Than you can still use your 2nd travel day, perfect! :)
Aug 11 - Munich - Prague :arr: 3rd travel day
Aug 12 - Prague - Dresden DAYTRIP :arr: 4th travel day
Aug 13 - Nighttrain from Prague - Amsterdam :arr: the tricky part...the night train leave at ~6pm so you would need a regular train ticket up to the first stop after 7pm, which is Usti nad Labem. It wont be expensive.
End pass in Amsterdam.

Looks good. Enjoy your trip! :)

Hi there,
We are leaving in a week for our interrailing trip. I'm just wondering with regards to supplements whether it will be okay to book all of our departing trains once we arrive in each city (see above for our travel itinerary Rome-Florence-Munich-Prague-Amsterdam), or if there are any trains we should be booking for in advance? I'm not quite sure what the availability is like during this time of the year so just wanted to check with you. Also, what does HST stand for as in the phrase 'Without HST/trains with surcharge'?
Thanks for your help!!

Hi.
HST = High Speed Trains
The schedule planer is a general one - there is no special InterRail schedule planer available.
Do not pay attention to the information reservation/surcharge/supplement/reservation needed or what ever.
Always do it step by step:
1) Check the schedule planerhttps://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
2) Compare it to the supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
3) Compare it to the information at the country topics: https://rail.cc/en/countries
If you select HST/trains without surcharge it simply makes it easier to find supplement free connections.
You can travel the whole route without any supplements.
Rome-Florence: use the free IC or R trains in Italy. An example:
Roma Termini Dep: 0843
Firenze S.M.N. Arr: 1247
Florence-Munich:
by direct night train (you can book it online in advance): https://rail.cc/en/rome-florence-munich-night-train/f3741
Firenze S.M.N. Dep: 0835 | free IC train
Bologna Centrale Arr: 0942
Bologna Centrale Dep: 1155 | free EC train
München Hbf Arr: 1825
Munich-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/munich-prague-train/f5108
Prague-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/prague-amsterdam-night-train/f3748
Prague-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/prague-berlin-train/f3360
Berlin-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
Of course there are much more connections available, also night trains or HST. But you see: if you want, everything can be done for free.
And if you want to support our work and not only an anonymous big company, buy your official InterRail pass at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - thank you. :)
