Hi guys!
I'm planning a trip across Italy this summer and I'm not sure what ticket to get. I would most like to get the one country pass of 8days in one month to Italy because I'm only going to be in Italy and I'm only there for three weeks. But I'm not sure if its going to work.
My planned trip is Rome to Potenza to Botricello to Bari to Bologna to Genoa to Mont Blanc to Milan to Verona to Venice.
First off, can you use the 19:00 rule with one country passes? Nearly all of my travelling is going to take place between 10pm and 7am, with the majority of it starting around 5am. Would I be able to use the rule for these trips?
Secondly, by 8 days in one month does it mean that on those days I can take as many trips as I please? I'm travelling as cheap as possible and without any HSTs so most of my journeys include multiple changovers. Is this allowed?
Thirdly, and on a slightly different note, when I looked through route planner I clicked on without HST/trains with surcharge. Does this mean that the trains that came up are completely without supplements? And even if there is a supplement, do I have to pay for it or could I just say I don't want them and get on the train without any special supplements?
Sorry for having so many questions, i've never done this before. If you could tell me whether you think I should buy a one country 8days in a month pass or a flexi global pass for 10 days that would be great.
Much appreciated, Newbee

Hi Newbee...
Buy the 8 days in 1 month InterRail ONE Country Pass. It is definitely cheaper than the InterRail GLOBAL Pass 10 in 22.
1) YES, you can use the rule of 19.00h for night trains as well with an ONE COUNTRY InterRail Pass.
2) On ONE of you travel days you can use as much trains as you want between 00:01h in the morning and 23:59h at night. Change trains as often as you want. Have breaks as much as you want. And with the rule for night trains, you can even use the direct night train and continue the whole next day using only ONE of your travel days.
3) Using route planer with the option without HST/trains with surcharge will help you already a lot. But there is no special system available for InterRail travelers. So you have to compare it as well manually with the supplements website: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it
I hope this will help you. Peter :)

Thanks very much peter!
One extra question, with the 19:00 rule, am i able to use it even if i change trains during the night? For instance, my trip from Bari to Bologna starts at 11pm and ends at 6am, but I switch trains at Pescara at 3am. Can I still call the whole trip from Bari to Bologna one travel day?

Officially it says you have to use a direct night train starting some when after 1900h and has to run (or you have to use it) at least until 0400h in the morning so that the rule takes affect.
In your case: officially I would say: no.
But on the route Bari-Bologna you have a lot of trains running during the night without changes.
For example:
Bari Centrale Dep: 2338
Bologna Centrale Arr: 0613
Or as well a real night train:
Bari Centrale Dep: 2259
Bologna Centrale Arr: 0540
Supplements are cheap and in Italy I definitely recommend to use at least 6-bed-couchettes in night trains where you can lock the doors!!!
To check the exact supplements, use the website of the Italian national railway company. There are the prices for Rail Pass travelers:
