Hi,

I will be traveling with Interrail (10d. in 22d.) for the first time this summer (July). And to make sure I don't run into any problems I would like to be sure i don't have to reserve any trains, or pay expensive supplements along the way. I still have some doubts about these routs:

* Hasselt (Belgium) - Berlin: (ticket -50% to border but ICE15 doesn't stop at border station + supplements ICE trains?)

Hasselt - Liege-G. (IR 2910)
Liege- G. - Cologne (ICE 15)
Cologne - Berlin ( ICE 1151)

* Berlin- Dresden: EC 175 (reservation?)

* Dresden - Prague EC 379 (reservation?)

* Prague - Bratislava EC 275 ( ?)

* Bratislava - Budapest EC 171 ( ?)

* Budapest - Vienna RJ 62

* Vienna - Hasselt:

Vienna - Frankfurt (ICE 26)
Frankfurt - Liege-G. (ICE 10) (suppl.?)
Liege-G. Hasselt (B) IR 2943

I am pretty sure that I don't have to pay any supplements, except for maybe the first and the last route?

Much obliged! :)

Hi ...

If a train is not listed here, it is free of supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

For the route Hasselt - Liege-G. - Cologne you will have to pay up to Cologne I think. Ask at the station.
Check fares at b-rail.be and do not use the THALYS train in any way as it will be expensive.

Cologne - Berlin: ICE 1151 - FREE
Berlin- Dresden: EC 175 - FREE
Dresden - Prague: EC 379 - FREE
Prague - Bratislava: EC 275 - FREE (the ones to Vienna have a supplement of EUR 7, but this one should be free)
Bratislava - Budapest: EC 171 - EUR 3
Budapest - Vienna RJ 62 - - FREE
Vienna - Frankfurt: ICE 26 - FREE
Frankfurt - Liege-G.: ICE 10 - FREE until the border to Belgium (like mentioned above)
Liege-G. Hasselt (B): IR 2943

Peter :)

Thank you very much :) . Would you recommend making reservations on any of the above routes? I will be traveling in July mostly in the late afternoon and before noon, if this would make a difference.

I recommend to travel always between 10h and 16h or after 19h... so you will easily get a seat.
On the EC trains you will definitely get a seat. ICE trains might be full. But if you are travelling alone or you are two persons, you will find a seat. Maybe you have to change once during your journey, but save the money to pay for reservations.
