Hi
I am planning on going inter-railing at the end of June using the 10 in 22 days ticket and was wandering if you could have a look at my route and see if its feasible as this is my first time.

Starting in Berlin then Prague - Krakow - Vienna - Ljubljana - (Lake Bled) - Budapest - Brasov - Bucharest - Istanbul - End

Is there trains between Krakow and Vienna?
We have been finding it hard to find a good route as the places we really want to go are very separated eg Krakow, Slovenia, Budapest and Romania. I am also worried as i will only have maximum £1200

Another problem is how may night trains we will have to get and the cost of doing so? I noticed the more people you share with the cheaper it will be however would this be dangerous/inadvisable for two young girls?

I hope you can help

Hi.

A nice route you want to travel.

Some information:

Krakow-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-vienna-night-train/f1903
You have several day connections as well, but I recommend the night train.
General train schedules: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Concerning night trains in Eastern Europe: better to have smaller compartments like 4 or 3 bed ones - and talk to other travelers. Meet them for a beer in the train. And it is possible to lock the doors. In the summer months you will meet a lot of Railpass travelers on these Eastern European routes.

Concerning the places you want to see.... you can do a lot using night trains. Have a look at the country topics: https://rail.cc/en/countries
And keep in mind: using a night train will save you the money for a hostel.

If you need more information, let us know ...

Peter :)

Thank you for your reply!

Regarding the night trains i heard that they are quite expensive, more expensive than hostels e.g €30 extra for bucharest-istanbul is this per person? Could it be cheaper if booked in advance or is it a set fee?

Thank you for your help

You are talking about this train.
A 3-bed-compartment (6-bed is also okay: EUR 9) is about EUR 24 (per person): https://rail.cc/en/bucharest-istanbul-night-train/f1639

On this route you will have to travel overnight except you make a stop somewhere.
If you want to have a double bed room in a hostel, you will pay as well more than EUR 30.

There are no discounts booking this train in advance. But better to buy this supplement in Bucharest than already somewhere at a station or travel agency in Western Europe. It will be definitely cheaper.
