Hi

I'm currently planning a holiday to Spain in September for 10 days, with an aim to visit all the major cities using an interrail pass, but could do with some general advice really!

The plan is: start in BARCELONA (2 days and 2 nights), then catch an overnight train to BILBAO - first of all, is this definitely possible? When and where would I book this? I'm a bit confused by which website to use for bookings, the only ones I've looked into are the Renfe one where I can't read the Spanish, and [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] (which I found to be the cheapest for an Interrail pass?), who say you can't book more than 3 months in advance.

Only planning to spend a day in Bilbao as only really found the Guggenheim to be of interest, so then plan to go on to MADRID the same day and stay there for the next 2 days (2 nights), and then on to VALENCIA for a day and night, then SEVILLE (but was possibly thinking a Valencia/Seville overnight as the distance seems quite large? Is this possible?). And we plan to spend the last couple of days in GRANADA, before flying home from MALAGA on the final 10th day.

Basically I'd appreciate any advice anyone can offer me! Anything on routes, costs, what to do/not do do, intercity supplements.. Also how do you validate your interrail ticket - is it on the train or before etc?

Many thanks :D

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca.

Supplements for Spanish trains can be bought at Spanish railway stations or online on railcc.

It depends on which InterRail ticket you travel, you simply have to fill in the date of your travel day before you enter the train.
When purchasing your ticket you have to fix the starting date of your ticket.

If you like the information of our website, I recommend you to buy your ticket via our partner [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - Thank you.
You can purchase your InterRail ticket up to 3 months in advance. Order at least one week in advance of your departure to Spain and you will be fine.

Your route sounds good - but I can't give you too much details on Spain, as it is not my favourite region where I travel - so maybe someone else !? ;)

Have a nice trip, Peter :)
