Hi.

Hostels are safe. But it is as in every European hostel: use the lockers, maybe fix your backpack on your bed with a simple bicycle locker and have your values with you. There is no difference between a hostel in Paris or Budapest.

Concerning night trains: in Eastern Europe I recommend at least the 6 bed couchettes. They are cheap and you can lock the doors. But here the same: you can be robbed in an Italian train as well like in an Bulgarian night train.

But in general: Eastern Europe isn't more dangerous than Western Europe.

Thats good thanks! if your staying in a sleeper that only holds 2 can these be locked from the inside?
