Please, tell me how could we rich Naples from Venezia by night train? Do we have to change the train in Rome or not? If yes it will be difficult to change trains in the middle of the night, because we'll travel with children. We have to find the solution.
We'd like to travel on the night between 2-nd and 3-rd of September 2010.

Hi!
There's a daily night train from Venezia to Napoli:
ICN 771
Venezia Santa Lucia dep 2330
Napoli Centrale arr 1000
Arrival time in Venezia is 2313 (the origin station is Trieste)...so you can board a little earlier.

Night trains have become increasingly criminal in Italy, ex Yugoslavia etc. Sleeping cars are safe. Just to inform, as I traveled scores of times by train in those regions.

you have 3 categories:
seats: are just seats and not really comfortable to sleep in. for one or two nights it is okay, but then you will need a real bed again! ;)
couchettes: you can lay down, not comfortable like a real bed, but a very good value you get for your money to sleep - usually the have 4 or 6 beds per compartment.
sleeping cars: are cars with 1, 2 or 3 bed compartments. more comfortable than couchettes and you will have a real good sleep. I love sleeping in trains. but you will have to pay more than for couchettes.
advantage of couchettes and sleepers: you can lock the doors during the night. so it is more save than using seats. if you want, have a small bicycle locker with you, so you can fix your backpack somewhere in the compartment.

Hi i have been searching timetables for this night train for June 26th 2011 and it says there are no matches for this journey. Does anybody know if this journey is still in operation?
Thanks.

Hi
At the beginning of June there is the annual small change of the train schedules in Europe.
So the system often doesn't show connections after this date.
Calculate with the dates of for example tomorrow. I am sure the train won't disappear. If there are changes, then only for some minutes but not mature ones!
