hi,
me and my friend are planning a trip and we have a few questions! =D
we wanna buy the 10days in 22days ticket but we really don't know what that means exactly! xD

example: with that ticket if we travel from Porto to Barcelona (we are from Portugal) and we take 18 hours to get there, does that mean that we spend 1 day in travel or just the 18 hours and still have left 6 hours to make a day in travel?

if anyone could helps us that would be very nice..thanks a lot

Hi.

Here is the info for you.

First: InterRail is not valid in your country of residence, you only get a discount. So you will have to pay from Porto until the border to Spain:
https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail
A sad rule, but I can't change it.

ONE travel day is from 00:01h in the morning until 23:59h at night. You can use as much trains as you want on such a travel day. If you only use one train for a travel of 10 minutes on such a travel day, it's stupid. Then better buy a normal single train ticket for such a short distance and save the travel day.

There is as well one nice rule concerning night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
Use it and you save one of your travel days.

I hope this will help you and if you want to support our project and the work at the forum, buy your official InterRail pass via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you. :)

I assume you are from Porto? Then best and cheapest way to get to Barcelona probably would be to get a regular CP ticket to Redondela or Vigo (depending on which train you take to Barcelona) and use InterRail from there. You have two options:
Day train (Alvia): Leaves Vigo at 0755, so you would have to stay overnight in Vigo
Night train (Trenhotel): Leaves Vigo at 1810...you could take the train from Porto at 0755, spend the day in Vigo and take the train in the evening.

at the beginning everything is a bit confusing.
but after some days of planing, using the schedule planer, it will become more understandable for you - and clear. :)

a simple way is to:

1) select some cities and places you want to visit.
2) check the country topics of the forum for information about night trains or city to city connections.
3) if you want to use day trains, have a look at the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
and compare it with the supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

NOW the basic things are done.
Start your tour - don't plan to much - have your route with you, some planes, but don't be fixed on dates. sometimes you will meet other nice travelers or the hostel is fun. some days it will rain and you want to leave to a sunny place.

Arriving in a city, buy the supplement for the train (if needed) with which you want to leave.
If you want and have fix dates, you can buy reservations for night trains already at the beginning of your tour at stations.

Nearly all hostels have internet access. Book your hostels for the next city, before you are leaving the hostel you are right now.

InterRail is not an all inclusive holiday. it is a bit of work. but it as well a really big experience and a lot of fun!

relax and let it flow.... :)

and if you have problems or more questions about your route, just ask and we will help you! :)
