A friend and i who are currently interrailing for 3 months are planning on travelling from Bordeaux to San Sebastian on the 26th of this month. We know that the only trains available for the journey require reservations, however we are unsure on the best way of making the reservation. Do we go and ask at the station (our French is limited)? or can we use the ticket machines as it says in another thread? Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi!
- Yeah, you can make reservation at the counter at a station - SNCF staff at the counter has badges with symbols of the languages each one can speak. Also it's always a good idea to write the desired connections with times and if possible train numbers on a little note that you can hand to the staff.
You can also get reservations for domestic services at the ticket machines (select abo forfait 2eme) but it's not an official way. ;)
- There are route options without supplements as well: There are free TER trains leaving Bordeaux for Hendaye at 0627, 0727, 1227, 1424, 1637, 1747. At Hendaye you have to change to Euskotren - not included in InterRail - and go just two stops to Irun. There you can take the RENFE Cercanias trains to San Sebastian.

You dont need a reservation if you go by Cercanias!
