Hello,

I was searching this forum for a post on traveling from Rome to Venice and can't seem to find one. Has anyone made this trip?

Thanks,

Hi.

Just use the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And compare it to the supplement information: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it

You will find a lot of Eurostar connections (travel time 3:30h) with a supplement of EUR 10, but as well free and slower connections for example by IC.
As there are so many different connections, I won't list them all here.

Night train: https://rail.cc/en/naples-rome-venice-night-train/f1514

Peter :)

Peter,

You've been great at answering all these questions! So this next one may be a bit basic, but...

Since we are not sure exactly where and when we are going from city to city, it seems to me that we will need access to the route planner during our whole trip. We were not planning on lugging the laptop around with us. Your advice?

You won't need a laptop with you.

1) Most hostels have computers with free Internet access - there you can check the schedules.
2) You will find train schedules as well at every railway station.
3) If you want to have a better overview, to plan a little bit during your tour, buy the Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable. A really useful book.

I believe dragging timetable is no better than dragging a laptop )
