Hi
I'm now sure whether or not I'm eligible for Interail or if I should use EUrail. Heres my situation:
-I'm a Canadian, who's been living in the USA for the last nine years.. (with a green card ) However,I've been studying abroad in Italy since September 2009 with a STATI SCHENGEN student Visa ( that doesn't expire until the end of June 2010 ). My semester ends at the end of march, and I want to use the months of April and May to travel all around Europe. I've read most of the EUrail website.. and had a look around the Interail site.. but I'm not sure which one I'm eligible for.. ( Since technically I'll have been in Europe for more than 6 months..)

Oh and one other quick question, Can I pick up my tickets.. via e-tickets or buy it directly at the station ? or do they have to be bought online and mailed out ?

let me know,
thanks
-Lorriane

Hi Lorriane.

As you stayed more than 6 months in ITALY in April 2010, you have to travel by INTERRAIL.
The rule says: you need a residency permit, visa or other governmental document proofing your six months residency in Italy.

If you order online, you support at the same time this forum and all our work and not only an anonymous company.
Via our online shop [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] do it this way:

Select the ticket you want, fill in the data.
As COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE fill in: ITALY
As PASSPORT NUMBER the one of your CANADIAN PASSPORT.

That's it. Delivery is by secure and express mail within 48 hours on business days to Italy. Purchase is also possible at a big station in Italy. But explain that you need an Italian InterRail pass. Not all the staff know the rules of InterRail. There are sometimes wrong printed tickets - especially in situations like yours.

Peter :)

thanks peter!
I'll buy through InterRail.

one last question, if you don't mind,
If I order it online does the secure and express mail mean that I have to sign for it ?
( I think this is where I've had problem with the italian post)

Yes. You will have to sing the letter. But it won't be delivered by the Italian Post, it is send by DHL (www.dhl.com).
If you are not at home, you can pick it up at their office or they will try it again the next day. Maybe order it just one week before your departure so you are save.

yes. as your residency is the place where you study/work. if you went home for holidays, it doesn't matters.
it is only important, that you have a proof (residency permit, visa, governmental documents) of your residency showing your six months stay, then you won't have any problems.
