Myself and a friend are currently interrailing through france as part of a 3 month tour or europe. We are in Paris currently and will be travelling to nancy in a couple of days. According to this site hafas.bene-system.com/bin/query.exe/en?ld=blo&L=profi&OK#focus the route (not including trains with surcharges) form Paris to Nancy involves 1 change at Bar-le-Duc, and i am wondering if this station is an intermediate stop on a route, or if it is the final destination of a route. If it is an intermediate stop then it will be very difficult for us to identify the train we must get in Paris as the intermediate stops are not always shown in the main area of the station.
Any advice will be much appreciated :)

The terminus of the train from Paris is either Bar-le-Duc or St. Dizier. Tell me the time you want to go and I can check for you. However, in my experience the monitors at Gare de l'Est should show all intermediate stops.

The train from Paris l'est leaves at 10:35. Yeah i thought it may well in Paris l'est, however in the smaller station's it will be less likely i would have thought? In which case what action do you recommend we take?

it's quite simple. Just click on the train number on that website when you get the timetable - and you'll see it's full route including final destination. You also have departure time and the train number - pretty much enough to identify any train.

1035 departure from Gare de l'Est runs to Bar-le-Duc (terminus) but then you'd have to wait until 1610 for your train to Nancy.
You'd have the option to get a direct TGV for 3€ (Paris dep 1212, Nancy arr 1342). But the city itself looks kinda nice so if you want to save your money you could have a little walk around town as well. :)
