Hey guys, :D
we are planing our interrailtrip for the summer - since it's our first timeon the rail we would appreciate any help of experienced travellers! Our trip will take us through France, Spain and Portugal and we'll sleep in youth hostels and will try to eat cheap (supermarket etc). We'll buy the one month ticket - just to make sure we're not left without any chance to get home :|
We were expecting to spend about 400 for the ticket and 800 for the rest - is that enough? realistic? or will we be in danger of running out of money? :'( we'll only travel 25 days and most of the time without train supplements.

Thank you :D

You might have a hard time getting through France, Spain and Portugal without supplements. :| So I'd plan with the 400 for the ticket plus ~50 for supplements in this area...I mean you will probably find supplement-free routes for most itineraries but they might take significantly longer than taking a train with 5-10 supplement. ;)

With 800 for the 25 days you should do just fine if you are careful on how you spend your money. I just spent some days in those 3 countries and you can live on the cheap side if you get your food from the supermarkets. Portugal surely was the cheapest of those three countries, especially in the areas without many tourists (and I'm not only talking about some lonesome countryside villages but also about Lisboa). But also in France and Spain you will be fine...
Just make sure that you've got your student/school etc ID card with you to get reductions or even free entry in museums etc.
