Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some help with my proposed travel route outlined below:

Madrid - Valencia - Barcelona - Nice - Milan - Zurich - Berlin - Amsterdam - Brussels - London

Fly from London to Madrid 14th June for 2 nights

Train to Valencia for 1 night

Train to Barcelona for 3 nights

Overnight train to Nice for 2 nights

Train to Milan for 4 nights (Explore different parts of Italy in this time)

Train to Zurich for 1 night

Train to Berlin for 3 nights

Train to Amsterdam for 2 nights

Train to Brussels for Eurostar back to London

Do you think this will be achievable with the 22 day Global Pass?

I was thinking about fitting in a ferry trip to Ibiza from Valencia, but am slightly concerned it will take up too much time...? Plus, I also want to make it to Barcelona for the opening night of Sonar on the 18th June. I suppose I could just cut back on the amount of time I stay in Barcelona to allow more time for Ibiza.

Any advice would be much appreciated! 8)

Hi!

Certainly doable within 22 days, you can even save some money and get a 10in22 flexible pass. :) :!: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

There's unfortunately no night train from Barcelona to Nice... :!: https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice :!: If you have enough time, you could go via the Pyrenées with the , then stay somewhere at the coast between Perpignan and Nimes for the night and continue to Nice the following day.

Watch out for supplements, especially in Spain, France and Italy and for night trains: :!: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

About going to Ibiza...no personal experience here, but that could probably too ambitious since the only ferry I found in my Thomas Cook is running on Friday and Sunday only and that wouldn't go well with your plan of going to the Sonar festival as well... :|

Zürich - Berlin :!: https://rail.cc/en/zurich-basel-berlin/f3756
Berlin - Amsterdam :!: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
Amsterdam - Bruxelles :!: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-brussels-train-thalys/f3991
Bruxelles - London :!: https://rail.cc/en/brussels-london-eurostar-train/f1807

Hope that helps so far, if you have more questions, please ask. And if you think we're doing a nice job here at the forum and website, get your official IR ticket from [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] . Thank you. :)

Hey, thanks for the advice!

I wonder if there is a way of getting from Barcelona to Nice more easily. The little yellow train looks cool, but it would mean having to stop over for a night somewhere. I guess there is no direct trains running from Barcelona to Nice so this is the only option.

I think I may scrap the idea of going to Ibiza as the ferry takes a while to get there and back, and as you pointed out, there doesn't appear to be a daily service.

:)

I've just check the Rail website for an example and it looks as though the journey from Barcelona to Nice could be achieved in one day. (I couldn't get trains times for June as I assume it's too far in advance).

BARCELONA-ESTACIO DE FRANCA - 19/04/10 08:45 MONTPELLIER ST-ROCH - 19/04/10 13:22

MONTPELLIER ST-ROCH - 19/04/10 14:16 NICE VILLE - 19/04/10 18:33

What do you think? Would I incur supplement charges on this journey do you think?

OK my route now looks like this:

London - Madrid - Valencia - Barcelona - Nice - Milan - Florence - Zurich - Berlin - Amsterdam - Brussels - London

Fly to Madrid 14th June for 2 nights

Train to Valencia for 2 nights

Train to Barcelona for 4 nights

Train to Nice for 3 nights (day visits to Cannes and Monaco)

Train to Milan for 1 night

Train to Florence for 2 nights

Train to Zurich for 1 night

Train to Berlin for 4 nights

Train to Amsterdam for 2 nights

Train to Brussels for Eurostar back to London

Total days: 20 (Maybe 21 including the overnight train to Berlin).

Hope a 10 in 22 day pass will cover my journey OK!

You should be fine with the 10in22 if you make Cannes and Monaco in one day...if you want to go there on separate days you will need a separate ticket for Nice - Monaco which would be 3,30€ one-way regular tariff.
