Hi there,

We're from Switzerland and we're planning an interrail-tour next august. It's the first time for us and so we have no idea how long a possible journey could be.

Our idea:
Paris-Amsterdam-Copenhagen-Berlin-Praha-Krakow-Budapest-Venice.

Is this possible in one month? Do you ever have been in one of these cities and have some ideas about excursions we could do there?

Thank you very much for your answers!!! :D

Hi!

This is a nice route easily doable within in one month. Also, since you are visiting major cities you will have good train connections between all of them.

How to get train schedules:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Some suggestions for overnight travel:
https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-copenhagen
https://rail.cc/en/copenhagen-berlin-train/f2919
https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361
https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027
https://rail.cc/en/krakow-budapest-night-train/f3305
https://rail.cc/en/budapest-venice-night-train/f1387

Certain trains will require a supplement (on your route ie TGV, Thalys and trains in Italy); have a look here for a full list:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

How to avoid the expensive Thalys:
https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam

Concerning excursions - do you mean going to other cities nearby or just what you could do in the above mentioned places?

Hi...

Easy to do within one month. :)

Especially from Switzerland you have good night train connections to Europe:
https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam

Amsterdam-Copenhagen: https://rail.cc/en/train/amsterdam-to-copenhagen

Copenhagen-Malmö: by Regional train. Less than 1 hour.
Malmö is definitely worth to stay for at least one night as there are a lot of students and night life.

Malmö-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-night-express-sweden-berlin/f1186

Berlin-Praha: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361

Praha-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027

Krakow-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-budapest-night-train/f3305
If you have the time, it is easy to add Vienna and/or Bratislava.

Budapest-Venice: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-venice-night-train/f1387
Here on this route you can add Zagreb, the Croatian beaches (close to Rijeka) or Ljubljana.

Search for a smaller hostel in the cities where the staff has more time. They will always give you a map and show you the best things to see or to go out in the evening. That's the way I do it ... :)

And if you want to support our work with the forum, buy your official InterRail pass via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] Thank you.

Peter :)

EDIT: Flow won. ;)
