hi ,i was wondering if hostels ,small guest houses, hotels etc do child reductions.my daughter is 11 and i was going to take her interrailing in the easter holidays.when i look at the hostels etc available there is never anywhere to put in 1 adult and 1 child.do we pay the same price.
also, would she be able to stay in a shared dorm or would we be better in a private room because of her age.do all hostels take children.
what accommodation would be best on a night train.thanx for your time

Hi ...

My experience: in hostels you won't get discounts, as a bed is a bed ... sometimes it is even not allowed that children under the age of 16 sleep in a dorm. so double bed rooms would be the best. But these are in most cases as expensive as hotel rooms. And in hotels you normally get a discount for kids !!! :)
Please book your hostels via these links to support our project. Thank you. :)

Concerning night trains: the supplement for a bed/seat in a night train is the same for you and your kid. As the InterRail supplement is the same for YOUTHs, ADULTs, SENIORs, ...
I recommend the Couchettes ... you have 4 or 6 beds per compartment. I travelled always in couchettes with my dad as I was young - and it was always an adventure. :)
