hi am planning to take a trip in the Easter holidays with my 11 yr old daughter and maybe my friend and her 12 yr old son.is it too long a journey to go straight to Krakow. i would like to go to Auschwitz so i guess we will need most of a day for that.was thinking about the night trains .are the seats comfortable to sleep in or should we get a couchette.
do you see any scenery on the fast trains or would it be better cheaper on slower trains.
id like to go to Salzburg to see the sound of music sets and the castle, some lakes and mountains.
next to Ljubljana again for the scenery.not bothered about staying the night at these paces but would like a quick look.
i was thinking about getting the interrail 5 journeys in 10 days tickets. do i have to get a ticket from England to France first then start interrail trip from France or Brussels.
will it be safe to travel with my daughter and stay in hostels.can i get a hostel without booking before hand, can i just turn up.are they easy to find as i wouldnt want to arrive in a strange city and have to get bus etc to where we are staying.are there age restrictions for kids, will they be allowed in hostels and we are in our 40,s are we to old.is it easy to get a b and b.are they easy to find and are they expensive ,just fa basic stop over.
so many questions, should i book tickets now or leave till closer the time.
so much information my brain has gone into overload ,looking at prices and time tables.would like directess route and easiest way to do it,would stop at other places on the way but was trying to do a sort of circle.,fitting in as much as we could in 10 days.
am i being to hopeful to do this..pls help and thanks for reading this and helping if you can

Hi ...
Step by step. :)
Train schedules are here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Interesting to read might be this topic: https://rail.cc/en/first-interrail-tour/f3303
To get from London to Paris, you can either travel by Eurostar (included in your ticket but with an expensive supplement - so I recommend to buy a normal discounted ticket, travel to Paris, stay there some days and start from there interrailing) or ferry:
https://rail.cc/en/london-paris-eurostar-train/f1805
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-london-paris-england-france/f1222
For the 5 in 10 InterRail pass, this rule is interesting: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
5 days isn't a lot to travel to Ljubljana, Krakow and back.
So the best will be to travel the direct way:
Using the rule mentioned above, travel this way to use only one of your travel days:
1) I recommend a day travel for your first travel day - as the 1900-rule for overnight trains isn't possible at the first day your ticket is valid.
Paris Est Dep: 0724 | TGV - buy the reservation (EUR 5) as early as you can in Paris.
Stuttgart Hbf Arr: 1104
Stuttgart Hbf Dep: 1158 | free EC train
Salzburg Hbf Arr: 1609
2) For Salzburg - Ljubljana there is a direct night train. It is a cheaper one and I recommend couchettes.
https://rail.cc/en/munich-zagreb-night-train/f3998
3) Ljubljana - Krakow:
You have to do this as well by day train to save travel days. If you want to spent one more travel day, you can do it very comfortable from Ljubljana to Vienna - then continue by night train Vienna - Krakow.
Otherwise like this:
Ljubljana Dep 0727
Villach Hbf Arr: 0908
Villach Hbf Dep: 0914
Katowice Arr: 1850
Katowice Dep: 1855
Krakow Glowny Arr: 2048
4) Krakow - Amsterdam - Brussels
Krakow Glowny Dep: 1935 | night train | using the 1900-rule mentioned above | https://rail.cc/en/night-train/poland/pl
I recommend a 3/4 bed compartment!!!
Szczecin Glowny Arr: 0557
Szczecin Glowny Dep: 0613 | free IC train
Amsterdam Zuid Arr: 1502
If you want, have a break in Berlin for a day and use travel day (5) for Berlin-Brussels ... or use travel day (5) for Amsterdam-Brussels.
https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
In the Netherlands avoid the THALYS trains:
https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-brussels-train-thalys/f3991
And from Brussels travel by a normal Eurostar ticket back to London:
https://rail.cc/en/brussels-london-eurostar-train/f1807
Or an other option is to use a ferry to Harwich - nice trip as well:
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-netherlands-england/f1659
I hope this will help you a little bit ... jut play with the schedule planer mentioned at the top. I am sure you will find other connections as well. :)
And if you like the forum and our work, support it and buy your tickets via our partner: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
The delivery time is 24 hours on business days in the UK - so you still have a bit of time until you order.

If you have the time then, maybe think about going to the Salzkammergut...Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Bad Aussee etc. By train from Salzburg via Attnang Puchheim, travel time about 2h, depending on where you go.
