Hi,
me and my friends are planing trip via Interrail in this summer. So, we start from Lithuania, going through Poland and Germany. We want to stay in Berlin for 2 days and after that go to Benelux. Maybe someone can offer which places are worth visiting? We want to visit Benelux Countries - France - Northern Italy - Switzerland. What about connections between these countries? Is it save to sleep in night trains?
Thank you for your answers :)

Hi ...

Here are some helpful links for you ...

1) Villnius - Warszawa: the best is to do this by bus... more information: https://rail.cc/en/poland-lithuania-latvia-estonia-finland-bus-train/f2330

2) Warszawa - Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/warsaw-warszawa-berlin-train/f3964

3) Berlin - Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407

4) From Amsterdam you travel to Brussels, Brugge for example. Cites are very close and not long distances to travel. Simply avoid the THALYS trains and use free IC trains: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-brussels-train-thalys/f3991

5) Brussels - Paris: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/thalys/41

6) From Paris you can use a night train in direction of Milano for example: https://rail.cc/en/paris-milan-venice-train/f3674

7) Switzerland is expensive... interesting could be to use the cheaper regional trains on the route of Glacier Express: https://rail.cc/en/glacier-express/f1750
Zürich is nice.

8) On your way back to Lithuania, think about stops in Vienna, Prague or Krakow - definitely worth. But as well Budapest and Slovenia are nice. Might be a bit too much ten for your plans!?

About night trains: they are save. I recommend to use at least 6-bed-compartments (couchettes) where you can lock the door. If you sleep in seats, fix your bag pack with a bicycle locker on your seat.

Peter :)

I think that instead of visiting Switzerland, I choose southern France - Marseilles, Nice and some small towns near sea. Then trip to Milan, where I'd like to stay for two or more days. Butt than what? Is Verona worth visiting? Cause I think from Milan go straight to Venice :)

BTW, Peter, u told me about big Interrail's web update in February? When it will be? :)

Hi ...
Verona is nice for a stop. But depends on the time you want to spent... :)
Concerning the new website: as much more people buy their tickets via the [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] website, as more time and money I can invest in the new website. ;)
It will be ready soon ... but still a lot of small things to fix.
Peter :)

Close to Nice (and very well connected by free TER services) you'll find ie Grasse (Perfum book and movie), Antibes, Villefranche (nice small beach close to the station) etc... :)

Is it a train straight from from Paris to Marseilles? I would like to trip to Marseilles from Paris about for two days - I want to see central France and visit small towns :) ) Which are worth visiting? And is it enough safe to sleep in the meadows? What about tent - if I want to sleep in meadows I ain't get cold if I sleep only in sleeping-bag? I want to travel on August ;)

There are regular direct TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Marseille St Charles. For deatailed schedules use the schedule planner...https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

When you go to central France, think about Le Puy en Velay and the Dordogne area (Brive, Perigueux, Sarlat,...). Albi maybe as well... Also, there are two really nice railway lines down to the coast.
:arr: Ligne des Cevennes. From Clermont Ferrand to Nimes
:arr: Ligne des Causses. From Neussargues to Beziers

On both lines there is only a limited service operating so you have to plan carefully when you want to go on one of these lines.

About camping...you will certainly be fine with tent and sleeping bag...not so sure about wild camping though, might be forbidden in France.

I mean about camping outside big cities, near small towns, where no one can see us :)

Yeah, I got that. ;)

OK, I checked and it seems that it is ok to do so. :)
