Hi all!
Been a while since I came on here. Originally planned to interrail a couple of years ago but never came to fruition! However this year it finally is, but I'm having a hard time sorting my route out! I just want to do too much in too little time!
Getting either the continuous 22 day pass or the 1-month pass.
Ideal route would be as follows:
London - Paris - Orleans - Bordeaux - Madrid - Valencia - Barcelona - Marseilles - Monaco - Zurich - Bern - Milan - Florence - Rome - Venice - Vienna - Munich - Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam - Brussels - Luxembourg - Lile - Dunkirk - Calais - Ferry home! Or possibly back to Paris for Eurostar back.
That's 24 destinations in 22 days or 1 month, so a lot to do in little time! Which do you think I could comfortably cut out and which are must-sees?
Already had to cut out a visit to Portugal! Though that would have been lovely! But it's just a bit far out the way!
Thanks for your help :D

Hi ...
Still one of the last ones having the luck to get a one character user-name here at the forum . ;)
And yes, really a lot to do within your 22 or 1 month travels. But it is good to have a route planned and then to cut it down. You will see... at the beginning it is okay to rush trough the cities, but after one week you will need a break and to stay for 2-3 nights at one place to relax.
Sometimes you will meet as well other travelers and it is fun to stay one more night, to have some more beers. ;)
If you want to travel this journey, maybe cut of (but this is my personal opinion):
Orleans, Bordeaux, Valencia, Marseilles and Monaco (replace it by Nice), Bern, Milan, Luxembourg, Lille, Dunkirk, Calais.

Okay great stuff, thanks for the help Peter!
Is there anything I'm missing out on majorly? Pisa perhaps? Is that a must see?
Also, i hate to be a pain, I've had a look through all of the supplement things but having a hard time getting around them.
Looking at my, now revised, journey - could you shed some light as to what I'll be paying in supplements? Do you just go to the station, ask to get on the train, and they charge you a supplement?
London - Paris – Barcelona – Nice - Zurich - Bern - Milan – Pisa - Florence - Rome - Venice - Vienna - Munich - Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam – Brussels
Obviously you don't have to do every journey, just an example to get me on my way!
Thanks! :D

... Pisa would be good to have a stop ... but maybe just a stop for one afternoon and then continue to Florence.
Depends on your mood....
About supplements:
- have a look at the country topics (if you want to use a special train or night train)
- use the schedule planer, select the train you want to use: https://rail.cc/en/search-train-route
- then compare it to the supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
Just some examples:
London-Paris: https://rail.cc/en/london-paris-eurostar-train/f1805
https://rail.cc/en/ferry-london-paris-england-france/f1222
Paris-Barcelona: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/france/fr
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/france/fr
Barcelona-Nice: https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice
Nice-Zurich: in most cases you will travel via Italy/Milano (using Italian IC trains) to Switzerland (using Swiss EC trains) - see supplement section. Traveling via Geneve requires TGV trains.
Zurich-Bern: free IC trains
Bern-Milan: EC train - EUR 5
Milan-Pisa and all other Italian connections: always pay attention to supplements in Italy. You will find in most cases a slower regional train - but free of supplements!

...
Venice-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/venice-vienna-night-train/f3672
Vienna-Munich: free day train - ICE or Railjet
Munich-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/munich-prague-ice-train/f3492
Prague-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/prague-berlin-train/f3360
Berlin-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-amsterdam-train/f2407
Amsterdam-Brussels: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-brussels-train-thalys/f3991
And yes, just go to a railway station during your tour and ask for the supplement, showing your InterRail pass.
