I am probably the nth person to have asked this question but here goes anyway:

If an interrail ticket states it is valid for 5 days within 10 days, does it mean that I have 5x24 hours worth of train rides within the 10 days or does it mean that for 5 allotted days, i can have an unlimited number of train rides:
ie in 1 day, i take 3 trains, will that still count as 1 day on my ticket?

i know this is a stupid question but i can't seem to make head or tail of how to use the interrail pass properly.
Does this also apply to the Eurail ticket?

thanks!

hi ...
no problem to ask ... :)

With a 5 days in 10 InterRail Global Pass you have 5 days on which you can as much trains as you want from 00:00h in the morning until 24:00h at night. Like you said: 5x24h.

You only have to fix your starting date at the purchase of your ticket. The 5 travel days you just fill them in manually when you need them.
There is as well a nice rule concerning night trains: when using a direct night train starting after 19:00h in the evening, fill in the date of the next day - and it counts as ONLY ONE travel day. So you even have travel time from 19:00h in the evening until the next day 24:00h.
But read here for details: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

The same rules apply for the Eurail ticket - as much as I know. But better to get it confirmed via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] (then select the country link).

Have fun, Peter :)
