Hello,
I was just wondering would it be cheaper to take a ferry from the UK to Calais or would it be cheaper to travel via eurostar to Paris? I am planning on buying a 22 consecutive day interRail pass for 2nd class youth if this makes a difference.
Thanks,
Sarah x

Hi!

You see, it's cheaper going by ferry but much faster if you take the Eurostar. However both are a really nice experience of traveling. :)

If you want to take the Eurostar, I'd recommend activating your IR ticket only when you are leaving Paris to save some days of your pass. You can find cheap advance fares for Eurostar online at eurostar.com.

so if i travelled via the eurostar to paris on the 1st june and stayed for say 2-3days and left paris on the 3rd june to head elsewhere in europe i would be able to begin the interrail validity on the 3rd and save a few days travel? would i still recieve discounts which you are able to get with the interrail ticket?

Yup, that's correct. Note that you would then need a regular Eurostar ticket to Paris (which is the same price or even cheaper than your discounted ticket you'd get for Eurostar with IR ticket).

No, you can apply for these discounts only with a valid IR ticket.
