Hello,

Is buying IR ticket at the station by any means country-sensitive?
Or is it just my country of residence that matters?

Here comes the story that happened to me at Poities (France).

I'm Polish living in France now, and I have a certificate for it, but obviously I don't carry it with me all the time. I've already bought two IR global passes in France using my Polish passport and everything was fine. But ...

Yesterday I've arrived in Potiers in France and wanted to buy a French One Country Pass. I was in a hurry (as I needed it for that day). The guy said that it's not possible to get the French IR in France. I was supprised but asked for the global one then with my Polish details on it. He said that he can't sell me the Global Pass with Polish details in France as it can't contain the polish details and french logo on the ticket !! And that he can sell me only the Global Pass with French adress (which I obviously did not need anyway and I did not have the certificate wih me) !! Arguing with the guy I tried to convince him and show him my former Global passes looking exactly the same I wanted bought in two different cities for which the guy said that both of them were wrong and not valid. The other guys at the station agreed with his version. By that time my train was about to leave. I had to buy a normal ticket proced 130 eur.

The argument of the guy was the 8th point of the rules and most probably he misunderstood the country of residence at the 8th point of the rules.

Hi ...

You are right: you can buy a Polish Global InterRail Pass in France and as well an ONE Country Pass France in France with your Polish passport if your country of residence is not France. And it doesn't matters if there is the French or whatever logo printed on the ticket.
Important: the last six months of where you lived.

If you lived the last 6 months in France and this is printed in your passport, you can not buy a French ONE Country Pass - and a French Global Pass isn't valid in France - as your country of residence is FRANCE.

And as you say you have a certificate for living in France you are traded like a French citizen - as this is the country of residence of your for the last six or more months.
Maybe this is solving the situation??

But I always recommend to order the official InterRail pass online via [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] - delivery is by secure mail within 48 hours - you won't have discussions at stations. And at the same time you support our forum, all the work and not just an anonymous company. :)

Peter :)
