Hey there

I was interrailing already in the summer of 2008 and am now thinking about a second journey by train :)
It's possible that I got no holiday this summer so i am just wondering how it is to travel in April (from the 10th, 2 Weeks).

It's here in Switzerland then pretty strange, like April is. I have no idea of the route yet, so i could follow the regions which are a visit worth in April.
My first idea was Paris and then to London and .... But London seems a bit unwise to me in this season? And northern Europe (Denmark, Sweden) will sure still have snow then, right?

Was anyone here already travelling in April and can tell me where to go at this time or has even a good route for spring?

Thank you :)

Hi!

Definitely go to Paris! I've already been there in May 2007 and compared to the hot, crowded summer months it was a completely different experience of the city.
Also, if you want to go there, make the trip to London. When I was there in April/May 2004 for two weeks we had really nice weather almost every day - we even went swimming a little down in Brighton. Of course you might have bad luck with the weather but thanks to InterRail you are flexible and can change your route at short notice (you don't necessarily need any train reservations for Paris - London when you are going by ferry).

The nothernmost part where I was in Europe at this time of the year was the island of Amrum in the northern sea (Germany) - we had almost the entire island for us as there were very little tourists. We spent about three fun days at the campsite just behind the dunes; the weather was fine if you don't care about the wind. ;)
If you want to go up north towards Scandinavia I guess you won't see any snow in Malmö, Kobenhavn or Stockholm at this time of the year.

Another nice route would be along the mediterranean coast: Nice/Antibes/Grasse/... - Genoa - Pisa - Roma

I can answer about the snow-question, cause I live in the very north of Sweden.
Up here the snow is starting to melt away in mars-april sometime, and in southern sweden most of it will probably be gone in April.
