Hello guys. Me and my friends are considering this route. We will travel 22 days with 10 travel days.
We're starting in Denmark, but will take the plane to somewhere in France. From there are we going to the French Alps where we will watch the Tour de France 8th stage ending on Morzine(?). From there we're considering to go to Zürich, and then Zagreb afterwards. Then we will chill a few days at the Baloton lake in Hungary, and on our way home will we maybe visit Bratislava but definitely Prague.

We are going to stay a few days in all the cities.

My main questions are: what experience do you guys have with Zürich and Zagreb. These destinations are our biggest doubts. Are they worth to visit? Will we meet a lot of young people? Are there good pubs, bars and clubs we can visit? How are the prices, i guess ¨Zürich are pretty expensive? What do you guys think of these cities in general?

Last but not least, have anyone seen Tour de France?

Hi!

Never really been to Zürich or Zagreb so can't help you on that (SiDUDe certainly can help out for Zagreb ;) ) - there's only one thing I've read about Zürich recently, it's the Zürich West quarter which is supposedly the in place in Zürich atm. During my short stopvers in the town I experienced the city as rather but not too expensive (but that depends, as everywhere, on you and your expectations).

I've seen the last stage of TdF 2008 in Paris and that was quite awesome. :) This year, stage 8 indeed goes from Station des Rousses to Morzine-Avoriaz. Larger cities along this stage accesible by train are Bellegarde and Annemasse - from Annemasse there might run buses up to Morzine-Avoriaz (at least they do in winter to serve the ski resorts). It's definitely a unique experience but you will probably have to plan a whole day for it.

Yeah Zagreb was pretty cool, cheaper than italy and the pizza was almost as good! It has quite a good cafe culture, and as around in your hostel for the local nightspots. It seemed quite laid back compared to some other capital cities. Balaton is awesome too, even if its just to get out of the city. I would suggest swapping Bratislava for Budapest if you have time, as its a much more interesting city
