Hey guys , I no the subject of Belarus has been mentioned here before but just wondering if there are any first hand reviews of the country and how you found the trains crossing the border etc . Was only thinking of going to Brest so if people could share experiences of travalling there by train it would be great ! Thankyou

It's hard to say something because I realy don't know what you interesting in obout this subject...
What I know is that you can go to Belorus from 3 countries: Niederland, Germany and Poland with only sleeping car, or go to polish border and then with local train to Briest with sits.
You have to have a visa on Belarus even if you go there for couple of days.
It will be better if you exchage the money in Belarus.
I have never been in Belorus but i have some belorussian friends so I can ask them if you want to know more

If you have InterRail, the best you can do is to travel to Terespol and take one of two daily local trains across the border to Brest. Several buses a day also go from Terespol / Byala Podlyaska, but times vary in different days, since most are transit. At least one bus a day is local.
Direct trains from Warsaw, Germany, etc. have sleeping cars only and are not cheap. They can spend about an hour or even more in a special section of Brest station for gauge change before arriving at the platform. So arrival time can actually be different from timetable.
Local trains don't have to change gauge.

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about going by train from Germany to Russia and stop over in Minsk/Belarus. Does anybody have any experience with this country and city, concerning train stations, public transport, hotels/hostels, adavance booking via internet...
Thanks

Hi, i am also thinking of going to Brest, (the war fortress) but the cost of a visa is putting me off.
I was hoping to do a day trip from Warsaw, with the bus trip from Terespol as the option..
Any comments on the visas would be helpful.. Thanks...

I'd have a look at the Belarussian Embassy's website of your country. As far as I know you have to send them the tickets you want to use to get to/from Belarus.
