Hi everyone,

I'm planning a one month trip in the eastern europa with one or two friends in august...

I'm planning to visit 9 or ten cities (mostly capitals) and I want to travel at night mostly or in the morning (take one of the first train), is it possible to book the night trains in august just before the departure ?? Or do I have to book every night train in advance ?? August must be quite a crowded month, isn't it ??

thanks for the answers

Hi ...

You are right - in the month of August you will have a lot of rail travelers. So it is recommended to buy your reservation for a night train 2-3 in advance or even more if you know the exact travel date. But keep as well a little bit of your flexibility - and don't book too much in advance.

It is possible to buy the reservation for the night train in the morning when the train is leaving in the evening. In Eastern-Europe you have some long distance trains traveling up to 36 hours - so then you will have to book 2 days in advance if you do it the official way.
But you can always ask as well (for example if y train seems to be full officially) the staff directly at the train.

Have a look at the country topics of our forum where you will find a lot of details concerning night trains - I am just updating all the information for 2010.
Peter :)
