servus,
I'm planning to travel through Europe by using the 10d within 22d. my question is: Is the first day of the ticket automatically the first travelling day??
i'd like to start on the 2nd of july. I wanna go from vienna to berlin.. Can i take the night train in the evening (after 19:00) so that it's only one travelling day?
best regards

Hi!

- First, I have to ask if you're Austrian. If so, you cant use InterRail in Austria - you'd need a regular ticket up to the border in Breclav.
- The 1900-rule at the first day of the ticket is as follows: If you want to leave Wien at 2nd July in the evening, your ticket has to be valid on this day (= starting day 2nd of July), but you can put in the 3rd July as your first travel day. :)

Yep i'm Austrian^^.. thanks for such a quick reponse! jep I know that I can't use it in Austria. I'm travelling with a Brazilian friend who has to use the EuRail ticket. He chose the select five countries option but the Czech Republik is not included. Can we still use that train although it goes through Tschechien?? ;) Thanks

Hi!

OK, all clear now. ;)

- You have two options now: Either validating your InterRail ticket on July 2nd and marking the 3rd as first travel day (and getting the 50% InterRail discount for Wien - Breclav). Or validating your InterRail ticket on the 3rd and of course marking that day as your first travel day - and buying a regular ticket Wien - Breclav > maybe you have a VorteilsCard, if so, I'd recommend option 2.
- Your friend from Brasil wont be able to travel on that night train, if Czech Republic isnt covered by his InterRail ticket, sorry. 8) So you could search for a cheap SparSchiene ticket for him or travel via München (although that would mean a more expensive Wien - Salzburg ÖBB ticket for you) with the München - Berlin night train.

Hi!

No, not that I'm aware off. You should find power sockets in the toilets though but they are suitable for smaller devices only.

This is so weird .. I was at the main station in Budapest and asked the lady to reserve a seat for myself for this night train from Vienna and she looked up and and said reservation is not compulsory!
Is this right because on the route planner it says it is?

Hi!

Here's what I know:

- ÖBB website says you need a 5€ reservation.
BUT:
- I was told by several travellers that they've been travelling Praha - Wien on this night train without needing a reservation
- and since this train is operated by MAV (Hungarian Railways),
I'd say go without a reservation, especially if you where told this at a MAV counter. However, maybe you want to invest the money though to have a seat guaranteed.
